Keeping busy .....

Hello... Sadly I haven't posted in too long ... But happily I can say I keep myself busy. I have been going back and forth berween my mixed media and art journaling, and painting and doing punch needle primitive folk art.

I have a regular composition book that I covered and have been using as a journal.
I've been trying to add some doodling, painting or pasting to add color and interest to the pages. My actual journaling , for the most part, is quite blah ..... Lol

My doodle book ....

I don't usually do portraits. Not my forte , but for the heck of it I did one.
I have some more new things I've finished. Maybe I'll make a new post tomorrow. 🤓

Re-Purposing lovely old books ....

As the title of the post implies, that's what I've been up to. Well, that and some other little creative things here and there.

I'm trying to retain the old weathered look , but wanted to keep the turquoise color theme to keep all the books looking like they belong in a family together ~ cohesive ~
I will be using them for art journals , but perhaps with different themes or mediums being used in them.
The smallest book was just a dictionary of sorts that I tore some pages out of to make room as it grows with paint and collage.
 ( sorry for the sideways picture I tried but couldn't get it to stay right sided lol )

This was actually an old scrapbook and there are places in which to add pages.
I love it.

And this lovely is an old ledger. The pages are a little brittle bit should hold up to gesso and some paint and collage.
So that's a little bit of what I've been up to. I say it every time, but I really do hope to post more often and have some fun stuff such as tutorials, giveaways and some journal pages to share.
Have a blessed and creative day,
Robin

Always Creating ......

No matter how long its been since I've been on my blog here, never a dull moment creatively.Sure we all get in a slump with what we are doing, but I just end up trying out new stuff....playing with old stuff I haven't played with in a while, or moving on to a whole new outlet of creativity...
I was inspired yesterday by a video ( well 4 or five ?) by Teesha More,,,,I didnt follow along doing exactly what she was doing, but it put me in the mood to play with fabric, so I sewed....
I think I will make it a cover over cardboard for a handmade journal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
sooo, all of this art journaling and mixed media art, and even watercolor , is still fairly new to me, so I try to push myself to practice in different mediums, in the hopes of improving,,,,,
I ve even joined the ranks of the You tube crowd and recoded a few videos... click here to watch one
Here are a few drawings and paintings I've played with last few weeks ( months ???.....lol )
More playing with art ....
Hello lovely " Artsy" folk !!
This time of year plays havoc with my emotions. I know it is SADD , so I'm thinking of getting  a lamp. I need some ultra violet rays in a bad way. Lol
But, to deflect some of the downer thoughts , I play !!! I make art !!!
It may not be a cure all, but it certainly brightens my mood even if temporarily.
Here are a few things I've played with recently.
I saw the video that Gelli Arts ( Gelli plate co) put out on how to do transfer from Gelli plate to packing tape. I finally decided to try it. I like the results. I can use these cut up and added to collages, mail art, art journals , even binding for homemade books.
I painted a few cute bunnies ... They are on 150 lb watercolor paper and done in watercolor and pencil.
I did a painting in acrylics on an 8" x 8" gesso board. I'm pleased to say I SOLD it also.
I put together a collage of some of my artwork. Take a peek.
And just today, I was going to write for a bit in my regular daily journal, I had an itch to sketch a face. It turned into an angel.... Then I wrote a short quote.... Then did a teeny bit of coloring with pencils.
I had forgotten to add the " light " in the pupils. So here:
So long till next time.
Been gone too long ...
Been way too long ....
These got mis placed here... These are pages I've worked on from the DLP Project
Hello all ... I've been gone from here for a very long time , but I have been busy doing all kinds of fun stuff.
At Christmas I made my very first video of a flip through from a December Daily Junk Journal I made.
Here is the link if anyone would want to take a peek:
After Christmas I got the bug to organize my studio a bit and start dabbling in done painting / doodling again.
Here are a few things I played around with : Some watercolor illustrations
Doing a painted paper using acrylic paints , to use for collage , etc
Watercolor
Making some pages for my Documented Life Project: 2016 The Unplanner
Here is a link if you would like to sign up.
It's keeping me in the creative frame of mind while setting up my own planner....
I was also re covering my Bible, ... I redid the cover on a composition book for my new journal and redid the cover on a doodle tablet.  A black paper one I doodle with white gel pen in it.
I also made some splashy papers for collage or to use in my DLP Project ... I will need to put a very thin coat of clear gesso or matte medium in them since it is watercolor ,
I even played around with my Paper 53 app  and my pencil ( stylus)
And ........ A FREE GIFT FOR YOU
I used watercolor and created a " TO DO " List.
All you need to do is right click and save to your computer and print it out whatever size you want.
Well , that's it for now ... Please leave me a comment let me know what you think .... Always love a little feedback.
Hugs,
Robin
